Seventy Years of Syrian-Chinese Relations… A Shared Outlook Toward the Future
Mr. Fadi Al-Ahmad, President of the Syrian-Chinese Business Council, accompanied by members and advisors of the Council, participated in the reception hosted by the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Beijing on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the People’s Republic of China, in the presence of a wide official and diplomatic representation from both sides.
The Syrian side was headed by Mr. Zakaria Lababidi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Beijing, in the presence of members of the Syrian diplomatic mission. The Chinese side was represented by H.E. Mr. Miao Deyu, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, alongside a number of officials and representatives of Chinese and international institutions and organizations. The reception also witnessed the attendance of a number of ambassadors of Arab countries and members of diplomatic missions.
The reception included speeches on this occasion, during which Mr. Zakaria Lababidi and H.E. Mr. Miao Deyu highlighted the depth of the historical relations linking Syria and China, affirming that the bonds of communication and knowledge between the two peoples extend far beyond the history of modern diplomatic relations, rooted in a long heritage of civilizational, cultural, and commercial exchanges.
Both sides also expressed their aspiration for a new phase in Syrian-Chinese relations, based on expanding areas of cooperation and strengthening communication between institutions and peoples, in a manner that achieves common interests and serves the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
On this occasion, the Syrian-Chinese Business Council affirms its commitment to continuing its efforts to strengthen the bridges of economic, investment, and trade cooperation between the two countries, and to transform the depth of historical relations and mutual friendship into practical partnerships and sustainable cooperation opportunities that contribute to the development journey of Syria and China.
Seventy years of friendship… and a partnership looking toward broader horizons.
